Shelley has provided pediatric speech and language therapy services in a wide variety of settings for over 25 years. Shelley has extensive background in medical speech language pathology. In addition to co-founding KidTherapy in 1999, she has worked in hospitals, university medical facilities, Early Intervention Programs, rehabilitation centers and private clinics.
For the past decade, Shelley has expanded her expertise to focus her clinical practice on the treatment of students experiencing auditory processing disorders, language and learning challenges and dyslexia. Shelley provides highly specialized intervention to improve foundational reading/spelling and writing skills using a neurocognitive approach. Shelley is also a Fast ForWord™ provider. She is licensed by the State of New Jersey , holds a Speech Language Specialist Certificate from the New Jersey State Department of Education and the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
Donna Silfies has been working at KidTherapy since 2001. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and her Masters of Science Degree from Loyola College of Maryland. In addition to private practice, Donna has worked in hospital and school settings. Her areas of interest include Apraxia, Autism, Early Childhood Speech/Language Development and Feeding Remediation. She is licensed by the State of New Jersey, holds a Speech-Language Specialist Certificate from the New Jersey State Department of Education and the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA.
Katie earned her MA in Speech-Language Pathology at Kean University. She also holds a BA in Communication Disorders and Deafness from Kean University. Katie has training and is certified in the Hanen program which is an extensive family-centered program for toddlers and pre-school aged children with language delays. She also has experience in evaluating and treating children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, ADD, learning disabilities, cognitive deficits, language processing, apraxia, fluency, receptive expressive, pragmatic language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders. Katie is particularly passionate in treating individuals with stuttering and cluttering disorders. Katie is PROMPT© trained and specializes in treating children with apraxia and motor planning disorders. Katie holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (NJSHA) and State of New Jersey licensure in the field of Speech Language Pathology.
Sharon DeFusco has been a speech language pathologist for over 17 years with Kid Therapy. She graduated from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) with a Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology. Sharon has extensive experience in working with children that have a wide variety of diagnosis, as well as a wide age range from Early Intervention to school aged. Sharon is PROMPT Level 1 certified. Sharon is licensed by the state of New Jersey and an active member of the American Speech and Language Association (ASHA).
